Basket Ball Summer Programme Bounced Off To A Flying Start

On Monday 8th August 2013, Norwood Community Group Services, Summer University Programme, bounced off to a flying start as young people began the start of a four-week session in Basketball at Elm Green School.

There was no postcode divide, with young people across Lambeth coming to play and have fun together. Two young girls that have also signed up for the programme demonstrated that they were equal to the boys, as they all excelled in the sport.

The Summer University Programme forms a part of the partnership working with Lambeth Cooperative Council.

Currently, all participants have achieved the aims and objectives as set out in the AQA units; they remain on course to complete the required modules and will be accredited with an AQA at the end of the course.

“I am really enjoying coaching this session having gone through the process of peer mentoring.  Young people are engaging in all aspects of the game of basketball and are extremely competitive”, said Malik Ellis, a Youth Support Worker at Norwood Community Group Services.
