We do not have a queue system . If you (or someone on your behalf) come along to the centre and book to see us. You can come in anytime during our the office open hours (Mon – Fri 10am-1pm & 2pm-4pm except Wednesday morning).When you come in you will be given some immediate information, anything urgent will be assessed. Note, reception are not qualified or permitted to give advice but can direct you to leaflets, information and useful helplines and websites.

We don’t recommend that you telephone as the phone lines are very busy at peak times when the receptionists are dealing with clients in reception or on other calls and you will not hear an engaged tone in these instances. If you have no option but to telephone and do not get an answer within 4 or 5 rings then they should hang up and should try again in 10 minutes.

Centre 70 was set up in 1970 and comprises an Advice Centre and a Counselling Project. This year is our 40th Anniversary of providing advice to residents of Lambeth.

We provide free, confidential, impartial advice by way of open reception (including information packs and specialised leaflets), open door bookings, appointments, home visits and outreach. WE ARE NOT REGISTERED TO GIVE IMMIGRATION ADVICE AND DO NOT GIVE ADVICE TO LANDLORDS

The Advice Centre is the designated advice provider in the Lambeth area for the Governments’ Mortgage Rescue Scheme. One of the specialist debt advisers is an “approved debt intermediary” for Debt Relief Order applications. We are members of advice UK. Our services are:

Specialist Advice & Generalist Advice
Welfare Benefits, Housing, and Debt advice is provided at the Legal Services Commission Specialist Quality Mark Level under Legal Help funded by the Legal Service Commission.

Generalist advice is given in Welfare Benefits, Housing, Debt, Consumer, Employment and other areas. We also provide advice under the Lambeth funded Every Pound Counts Benefit take up project.

We are part of a consortium of Lambeth advice centres that provide debt advice across Lambeth.

Evening Legal Advice Session
This runs one evening a week staffed by volunteer lawyers. This service provides brief advice on matters such as family, employment, consumer etc.

Capitalise Project
We are part of a London wide consortium of advice agencies providing debt advice funded by the government. The project provides brief one off advice as well as casework.

Water and Utility debt and Efficiency project
The project provides advice on Water and Utilities debt, efficiency and conservation, and provides
assistance with completion of grant application forms for various utility trusts. This project is funded
by the Thames Water Trust Fund

The Walcot Foundation project
This project is funded by The Walcot Foundation. The project provides advice on grants, budgeting and savings advice to individuals and students in need, and also advice and referral to agencies providing help on welfare to work.

Counselling project
The project offers free and low cost short and long term counselling in in the day and evening.
